Mechanism

Binds specific TGF-beta superfamily ligands, reducing SMAD2/3 signaling to promote late-stage erythroid differentiation and maturation.

Approved Indication

Treatment of anemia in adult patients with beta thalassemia who require regular red blood cell (RBC) transfusions; or anemia failing or naive to an erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA) in very low- to intermediate-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).
