Mechanism

Alkylates DNA and RNA, cross-linking nucleic acid strands and inhibiting macromolecular synthesis in cancer cells.

Approved Indication

Treatment of patients with brain tumors (primary and metastatic) and Hodgkin's lymphoma (as second-line therapy), in addition to other modalities or in combination regimens.

What This Means For Patients

Gleostine (lomustine) is an oral nitrosourea chemotherapy agent that has been a standard treatment for brain cancer and refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma since the 1970s. It crosses the blood-brain barrier effectively. It is available under the special-import policy in the Hainan Boao Lecheng pilot zone.
