Mechanism

Cabozantinib inhibits multiple receptor tyrosine kinases, including MET, VEGFR-1, -2, and -3, AXL, and RET, blocking angiogenesis, invasiveness, and metastasis.

Approved Indication

Treatment of patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) previously treated with sorafenib, and progressive, metastatic medullary thyroid cancer (MTC).

What This Means For Patients

Cabozantinib is a multi-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor used to treat advanced kidney, liver, and thyroid cancers. It works by blocking various proteins that promote tumor cell growth and blood vessel development. While not yet officially approved by the NMPA in mainland China, it can be clinically accessed via the Lecheng pilot zone's special import policy.
