Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI)

Mechanism

A cytidine analog that is phosphorylated intracellularly into its active triphosphate form, which is then incorporated into viral DNA or RNA, leading to chain termination and inhibition of viral replication.

Approved Indication

Approved in China for the treatment of HIV-1 infection (in combination with other antiretroviral agents) and for the treatment of adult patients with moderate COVID-19.

Azvudine is an oral nucleoside analog antiviral drug developed in China. Approved by the NMPA, it is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with moderate COVID-19 and HIV-1 infection. It works by terminating viral nucleic acid chain elongation to halt replication.
